** Woodhaven Daycare in Hot Water – A daycare center on 85th Street and 89th Avenue was in the news last week when they lost a child (and were very late in reporting it). Happily, the boy was found and returned to his parents. Click here to find out more.

** SBS Receives Low Ranking – The Select Bus Service project on Woodhaven Boulevard received low marks from the Federal Transit Administration when it comes to cost-effectiveness. Click here to read about how that could prevent the project from receiving federal funds

** A Drive Down Woodhaven Boulevard – Speaking of the boulevard, check out this article about Woodhaven Boulevard’s history. The expansion of Woodhaven Boulevard was likely the most contentious local issue this community has ever faced.

** Arrest in Woodhaven Gang Shooting – A long feud between two rival gangs left one dead and thirteen injured, including a young man who was shot inside an eatery on Atlantic Avenue. An innocent bystander (who was being used as a human shield by the targeted member) was also shot (luckily, she survived). Arrests have been made in the gang feud and some details have been released about the incident.

** Library Renovations Overlap – CB9 Chairman Raj Rampershad expressed concern about the planned renovations of the Woodhaven and Richmond Hill libraries, which could possibly overlap leaving locals with few full library options. Click here to read more.

** No Love for the Tennis Courts? – Click here to read coverage of the last WRBA meeting where the future of the Forest Park Tennis Courts was discussed.

** WRBA Website – If you ever want to know when our next meeting is, you can always find out by visiting our official website – woodhaven-nyc.org. There, you will find our Community Calendar, Latest News and Announcements, Membership Info, our Press Releases, and a list of our media appearances.

** Woodhaven Resources – Click here for a new page that is a useful resource of local numbers and links — you will find local clubs and organizations, emergency numbers, city agencies, elected officials, schools and churches.
