311-weekend

The Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association is holding a “311 Weekend” on the weekend of 3/11 to help raise money for local kids with special needs.

What is 311 Weekend? On the weekend of Friday March 11th, through Sunday march 13th, we are asking the residents of Woodhaven to call 311 and report issues around the community that need addressed. Broken streetlights, graffiti covered walls, illegal signs, illegal conversions, illegal curb cuts — all of the things that you see in your travels, call 311 and report them and send the 311 number to the WRBA (at info@woodhaven-nyc.org).

Meanwhile The WRBA is asking residents to make pledges. For example, .10 cents per 311, or .25 cents per 311, or .50 cents per 311.  Or you can cap off your pledge (for example, you want to pledge $10.

After the weekend is over, we’ll announce how many 311 calls were made and reported to the WRBA and collect the pledges!

Where does the money go? The money will be donated to WORKS Little League for their Challenger division, which is for children with special needs and learning disabilities. There are also children with autism who play in the league. It is a wonderful thing in our community and this is our way of supporting it.

How Can You Help?  You can email your pledge to the WRBA (info@woodhaven-nyc.org) or you can call and leave a message at 718-296-3735.

Then.. on 311 Weekend … Start calling!  Or you can report your issues online at 311 Online.  Remember – each and every 311 call you make will not only help your community — it will raise more money for the kids of the Challenger Division in WORKS Little League!
