** Our Top Stories:
** Next Woodhaven Town Hall Thursday, October 15th @ 7:00pm – American Legion Post 118 (89-02 91st Street – that’s 91st St and 89th Ave). This week, the focus will be on Participatory Budgeting for District 32.
** Upcoming Events:
** Memorial Service – There will be a memorial service for Elizabeth Wendell, mother of WRBA Director Ed Wendell, at Walker Funeral Home Friday, October 16th at 7 PM. Click here for more info.
** Fall Festival in Forest Park – The annual Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 17th from 12 Noon to 3 PM. This is a great event for the whole family with rides and activities for the kids, a pumpkin patch and more! Click here for highlights from last year’s popular event!
** Woodhaven Cemetery Restoration – The restoration of the historic Wyckoff-Snedicker Family Cemetery continues this Saturday, October 17th, from 9am to 12pm. We are at a phase now where we have many light tasks that need performed – namely, collecting of all the small rocks that makes mowing difficult.
** Woodhaven Street Fair – The best street fair in New York City – the Wonderful Woodhaven Street Fair sponsored by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, this Sunday from 12 PM to PM. Jamaica Avenue, 80th Street to Woodhaven Boulevard.
** Classic Car Show – The East Coast Car Association’s annual classic car show in Forest Park will take place this Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
** Defensive Driving Classes – There are 2 upcoming classes (which can save you money on your insurance): Saturday 10/31 and Saturday 11/21 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at Emanuel United Church of Christ (91st Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard). The low cost is $35. Light breakfast will be served (donuts and coffee). Attendees are asked to bring lunch. Call Emanuel for information 718-849-1153.
