Graffiti Cleanup – Sunday August 10th at 10 AM

July 31, 2014

Recently, a few residents of Woodhaven (two of them, in fact) spent a few hours going round painting over mailboxes, light poles, etc. It’s fun work, very rewarding, and leaves the neighborhood cleaner than when we started. We need a few volunteers for our next cleanup – Sunday, August 10th at 10 AM.  You’ll be working for about 3 hours with neighbors (and new friends).  We need volunteers – contact the WRBA at info@woodhaven-nyc.org or call 718-296-3735 and leave a message (and a way to contact you).

An Evening Ride on the Forest Park Carousel to End Alzheimer’s

July 16, 2014

New Yorkers of all ages can enjoy “An Evening Ride on the Forest Park Carousel to End Alzheimer’s” on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 6:30PM – 8:30PM.

Carousels evoke positive memories of everyone’s childhood.  The whirling lights, flashing colors, piping organ music, giggling children, and galloping horses remind everyone of a simpler time.  Bring back those magical days of the past while fundraising for the future.  On August 22nd, create new memories while raising money for programs and services for those who have Alzheimer’s, a disease that robs people of their memories.

NY Carousel Entertainment, LLC, operator of the recently landmarked, Forest Park Carousel, is proud to host the third annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, donating one hundred percent of all proceeds from carousel rides to the Alzheimer’s NYC Chapter.

Visitors can have unlimited carousel rides with face painting for $10 or enjoy individual rides for $3 to benefit the Alzheimer’s NYC Chapter (within the two-hour time span). There will be lots more fun as well, with a RAFFLE that includes some great prizes! Cido the Clown will be there to entertain everyone with his magic tricks and silly jokes. Don’t miss this opportunity to visit New York City’s oldest carousel, a rare and beautiful piece of art designed and carved by Master Wood-Carver Daniel Carl Muller in 1903.

Snacks and refreshments will be available at the Carousel concession.

The Forest Park Carousel is located in Forest Park at Woodhaven Boulevard and Forest Park Drive in Woodhaven (Queens), NY.  Free parking is available adjacent to the carousel. RAIN OR SHINE.
