Woodhaven Gardening Club

The Woodhaven Gardening Club May 2014

Friday, May 16th: Open to All     ***Rain Date*** Friday May 23rd

Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested in gardening, talking about gardening, sharing expertise, getting outside and getting some exercise or just socializing with neighbors! The second meeting of the Woodhaven Gardening Club will be on Friday, May 16th from 2 to 4 PM. If the current predictions are correct, we may have to postpone it until the following Friday as it looks like rain! The third meeting will be on May 30th. You may have noticed the library grounds are looking a little ragged, and we could really use some help getting it into shape. I’m letting everyone know in advance what tasks we hope to accomplish so you can plan what you’d like to do to help out.

What we will be doing on this day:

Vegetable Garden

Plan arrangement of garden

Plant vegetables

We have already turned the soil for our vegetable garden in the back of the building. Our next step will be to plan the layout, plant the plants and to discuss the next steps for our garden. You may want to bring a trowel and gardening gloves. If you have any vegetable transplants to share, contributions are very welcome!

Start Seeds for Flower Garden

Meet inside side entrance to start seeds for flower garden in potting soil.

Plan location of flower garden

This is a great job for our younger members! We will be growing flowers to beautify the grounds of the library along Forest Parkway and 85th Dr. We could use seed-starting/ potting soil and flower seeds.

Care of Library Grounds:

Trimming bushes

Join a group of concerned Woodhaven Gardening citizens as we weed, trim and spruce up our overgrown corner of the neighborhood. If you can, please consider bringing your own pruning and trimming equipment to help us out!

Things we need:

Vegetable plants

Seed starting soil.

Flower seeds

Call me if you have any questions.

Please forward the message on to anyone who might be interested!

Also, don’t forge to like us on Facebook and give us a like or share if you are interested in any upcoming programs!
