** WORKS Little League Parade Party – WORKS Little League will hold their annual parade this year – and the WRBA is hosting a small parade watching party. Come to the WRBA Office (84-20 Jamaica Avenue) for 10 AM Saturday and cheer on our young boys and girls of WORKS Little League.  Click here for more info.
** Next Town Hall / Graffiti Cleanup – Our next Town Hall meeting will be on Thursday, April 24th at 7 PM. It will be held at the American Legion Post 118 hall at 92nd Street and 89th Avenue (behind PS 60).  The WRBA is planning some Spring Graffiti Cleanups – email us if interested, or you can sign up at our next Town Hall meeting. ** Participatory Budgeting Voting Results – Thanks to every one who came out and voted. Click here for the results.  Next year, we’ll be starting the process earlier. Contact us if you’d like to be more involved in the process.

** Historical Society – The Woodhaven Historical Society will be hosting a FREE slideshow entitled “A View of Woodhaven” on Monday, April 21st at 7 PM at Neir’s Tavern and Steakhouse.

** Adopt a Platoon – American Legion Post 118  would like some help in sending a box of goods to a platoon in Afghanistan.  They need baby wipes, green tea and chai, tooth paste, razors, soap, fly swatters. If you’d like, drop off the items when you come to vote next week for budget items.

** Woodhaven Blvd – Select Bus Service – The DOT and the MTA are hosting a public workshop to improve bus service, traffic flow, and safety along Woodhaven and Cross Bay Boulevards. You will have the opportunity to share your transportation experiences and needs, to learn about transit improvements taking place this year along Woodhaven Boulevard, and to discuss plans to implement Select Bus Service.  The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 6:00 to 8:30 PM at JHS 210 Elizabeth Blackwell, 93-11 101st Avenue.  This event is free and open to the public of all ages, with a special children’s table featuring kid-friendly activities to get them thinking about ways to improve their community.

** Operation Comfort Warriors – The American Legion Auxiliary is holding a raffle to benefit Operation Comfort Warriors.  $20 per ticket- only 150 tickets will be sold!  1st prize $1,000. 2nd Prize $350. 3rd prize $150.  Those are good odds!  Operation Comfort Warriors is a program established by the American Legion to help service personnel returning home by providing “nonessentials” – items that would help wounded warriors in their recovery.  If you would like to purchase raffle tickets, please contact Jennifer Farley at jfarley13729@yahoo.com.  For more info on Operation Comfort Warriors, click here.

** School Sisters Raffle – The School Sisters of Notre Dame is holding a raffle, the winning prizes are $100 Metro Cards.  Tickets are only $2 each and can be purchased at the SSND Educational Center (call 718-738-0588). ** Easter Egg Hunt – Queens Tabernacle will be hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19th at 11 AM at Park Lane South and Myrtle Avenue.  There will be story telling, free gifts for the children, and candy giveaways.

** Save the Date – 10/10/14 — You’ll be hearing more about this in the upcoming weeks and months, but the annual Woodhaven Residents’ Celebration / Fundraiser has been set for Friday, October 10th.  More exciting details coming soon.
