Woodhaven Rezoning Meeting – December 1st

by

Update:  The meeting was well attended — details of the proposed rezoning can be found here.

Next Wednesday, there will be a very important meeting regarding the rezoning of Woodhaven and Richmond Hill.  The decisions made regarding rezoning will greatly impact our community — and could have an impact on the value of your home.

This meeting will take place on December 1st at 7:30 PM at Emanuel Church of Christ (91st Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard). If you cannot make the December 1st meeting, there will be a second meeting on December 15th at the Royal Indian Palace (118-06 Atlantic Avenue, Richmond Hill).

Above is one of the maps that have been distributed — this is by no means final — and it is very important that you are aware of what is being planned.  Once this rezoning goes through, if you aren’t happy with the results — good luck getting them overturned!  This rezoning will determine what kind of properties can be built — and where.  Now is your chance to have your say.

From what we’ve seen and heard thus far, the rezoning proposals seem fairly reasonable.  But don’t take our word on it — come to this very important meeting and find out how it will impact your surroundings.

Note:  This is not the WRBA’s regular monthly Town Hall meeting — that is scheduled for Saturday, December 11th at 1 PM (Ambulance Corps).  The December 1st meeting is a special meeting, covering only the topic of rezoning.

  1. Mike Says:

Is it possible to get more information about the proposals ahead of the meeting, or at the very least a better quality map?

  2. wrba Says:

I will see what I can do — but from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty extensive — I’ll see if I can get any handouts ahead of time.

  3. Kathleen Higgins Says:

    VERY INTERESTED!!

  4. wrba Says:

We couldn’t get the information you requested before the first meeting — but we do have details and much better maps up at the following link:

There’s another meeting on the 15th — and there will be another round in a few months — but it’s best to get your feedback in early.
